| Introduction | My wife describes me as 'a bit of a geek'. I'm a science graduate who never lost his fascination with the universe from the infinitely large to the infinitesimally small. Being a keen amateur photographer I try to photograph it all too! My main interests are in Landscape, Nature, Macro, Astro, and Micro photography. After some years gaining experience in photographic techniques I wondered if I could apply what I've learned to making science images more interesting. I had acquired a couple of good quality microscopes and spent a fair bit of time experimenting. Then I discovered photo stacking! The problem with trying to get good shots through microscopes is the very small depth of field. Only a tiny bit of the subject can be in focus at any one time. Stacking software enabled me to combine many images taken at slightly different focuses into one focused image. After many failures I eventually started to have some success. I hope to show some of the results in this blog. |
