Introduction I am a retired 50 something Conservation Officer with a goal of crossing the United States five times by non motorized means. After retireing in June of 2007 I launched my solo canoe at the headwaters of the Mississippi River and paddled to the Gulf of Mexico. My wife Patty joined me on the next crossing as we completed a thru hike of the Appalachian Trail, Georgia to Maine. In arch 2009 I biked from San Diego CA to St Augistine FL. We spent the summer of 2009 south of Anchorage Alaska working as volunteers in Chugach State Park. From March to May of 2010 we were volunteers at Hawaii Volcano National Park and from Dec 2010 until March of 2011 we were volunteers at Everglades National Park in Flamingo Fl. Other planned crossings include; a paddle trip through all of the Great Lakes to the east coast, a through hike of the Pacific Crest or Continental Divide Trail, and a mountain bike trip on the entire Great Divide Mountain Bike Route. It is my hope to use these crossings to inspire others to set goals and challenge themselves both mentally and physically. The picture posted is at the headwaters of the Mississippi on June 28, 2007
