| Introduction | Hi, I'm Viv. I was born in China, and moved to the United States in high school. After graduating from Berkeley, I went to work for a big tech company as a software design engineer. In 2007, I quit my job to be a stay-at-home mom with my 2nd son D. In 2008, we moved back to the Northwest. Even though D was born with weight in the 97 percentile, by the summer of 2008, he was below 1 percentile. It was horrifying. In the fall, D was diagnosed with milk, egg, peanut and green pea allergies. In the fall 2009, my older son, J, ended up in ER due to an allergic reaction. He was later diagnosed with peanut and pine nut allergies. I've always loved food. But I've never given any thoughts about it other than the taste. My kids allergies have certainly changed how I view things. I read ingredient lists religiously. After making a number of things myself, I fell in love with cooking. Now I can't imagine my life without it. |
