| Introduction | I'm a recent gay widower, Chuck and I were married, together for about 15 years. He died May 15, 2009, from progressive Cardio-Pulmonary disease and several other factors. My personal and professional background consists primarily of working with people with AIDS throughout the 1980s and early 1990s. For employment, I spent several years working with a team of PhD level Research Psychologists, who groomed my clinical sophistication. After leaving them, I became practice coordinator of an out-patient Infectious Disease Clinic at one of Boston's major teaching hospitals. This is the medical specialty which cares for people with AIDS mostly, so it was a perfect fit for me, having been a care giver for so many people with AIDS. Finally, my last "clinical" job involved caring for adults with developmental disabilities here in NH. That ended abruptly with a personal injury to myself in 2001, and I never returned to the workplace. By around 2005-2006, my husband Chuck's health issues became such that this was the point that we decided I would remain at home, at his side, and it all worked out (I guess) the way God planned. I still wonder about that sometimes. |
