| Introduction | Mary Allison Tierney was born in Fort Worth, Texas to two Texas Christian University students. Thus, she was raised by a single working mother - an elementary school teacher – and spent an inordinate amount of her youth with her nose stuck in a book. She has very happy memories of having Mrs. Babbit, the school librarian reserve the Nancy Drew Mysteries, any mystery really, for her and discovering A Wrinkle in Time. She also read Jonathon Livingston Seagull for a sixth grade book report, not without concern from the teacher. Wandering the stacks at her high school library during lunch (not too social) she discovered The Shining all on her own, and didn’t sleep for many weeks. |
