| Introduction | Clifford Gissell has always enjoyed writing, whether in the military writing citations or efficiency reports, in the private sector writing articles for trade journals, or in his personal life writing in newsletters for volunteer organizations. He turned his interest in writing to fiction in 2002. He spent twelve years in the U.S. Army Special Forces. He served two tours in Vietnam. He and his wife live in northern Alabama. |

How would I describe today's soldiers? They're the thin red line of volunteer warriors that stand between us and bowing toward Mecca five times a day and living in an Islamic hell on earth. We need them as much as we've ever needed our warriors.
