Introduction	Martha Olivia "Mittie" Stephens was born June 19, 1869 Whitesboro, Texas, daughter of George Wesley and Mary Catherine (Sarver) Stephens, and married Rufus Roland Cobb at Jimtown, Indian Territory January 30, 1887. Rufus is son of Thadeus and Emma (Burke), grandson of Rowland Ballard and Mary Ann (Edwards) Cobb. Rufus and Mittie lived at Healdton, Chickasaw Nation before moving to "G" County (Custer County), Oklahoma Territory, settling at Gip, October 12, 1892. They ran a general store at Gip and Arapaho. Rufus and Mittie had 7 sons, George, Cecil, Jack, Frank, Harvey, Randall "Bill" and Rollie, and 5 daughters, Rexie, Lois, Fannie, Mary, Mildred, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mittie passed away April 23, 1943. Rufus passed away July 4, 1947. Mittie's Journal is transcribed by a great-granddaughter.
