| Introduction | I am originally from the county of Lancashire, in England, and obtained bachelors degree in English Literature and European History from Manchester University. I moved to the United States in 1995, where I spent nine years in California, and presently reside in northeast Oklahoma, with my husband and three cats. I began writing in 2002 as hobby, penning short stories and essays. Although I considered myself to be a bit of a dabbler at this writing lark, I did join a writer’s group in October 2004. The group was so supportive and encouraging of my work that I began attempting to get some of it published. Eighteen months and countless rejections later, just as I was about to throw the towel in and get a proper job, I won first place in the Oklahoma Writer’s Federation’s annual essay contest. Since then my articles have been published in The Grove Sun Daily and The Chronicle of the Grand Lake. I am a regular contributor to Oklahoma Living Magazine. My work has also appeared in Family Circle, The Report (the magazine produced by the Oklahoma Writer’s Federation), and in Stories of Strength (an anthology of stories about growth disorders produced by the Magic Foundation). |
