| Introduction | I began writing for the Pineville Sun Courier in 1979. The column was called "Smoke Signals". The column focused on fire safety issues and fire information about calls, service runs and general information about the Bell County Volunteer Fire Department. Today I write with a focus on matters of Christianity, community issus, human interest stories and personal opinions. "Until then" is published in: The Pineville Sun; The Middlesboro Daily News; The Mountain Eagle; Corbin Times Tribune; and The Barbourville Advocate; Born and raised in Warren, Michigan, until my parents decided to return to their roots in Southeastern Kentucky. My family history is rich in tradition and impact within the history of Knox County, KY. Historians all know about Stinking Creek, and Mills, KY 40970. Here my family operated the USPO since we arrived from North Carolina via the Cumberland Gap, crossing with Daniel Boone. My Great-Grandfather Nasby Mills lived to be 98 years old and Acorn Fork was home his entire life. My parents made their way from Detroit, Michigan to establish our new home in Arjay, KY on Route 66 in 1971. |
