| Introduction | I have read that people change careers between three and seven times in their lifetimes. Here I am "stuck in the middle again." I have changed careers three times. I was a teacher/librarian for most of my career; a franchise owner for five years; and now I am pursuing writing. I have friends who started writing when they were in grade school; some who started writing during their middle years; and some who are starting in their twilight years. What stirs our passions to sit at a keyboard for hours? Why do we buy and read numerous books to perfect our craft? Perhaps it is a love of the written word, and a desire to entertain. I find that it's very difficult to define what kind of person makes a good writer. Writers come in all sorts of shapes and sizes. I would say to write fiction, it would be helpful to have had a variety of experiences to share with the reader. The author would be blessed to possess the ability to make the characters and the story real and exciting. It is my hope to record my journey into writing. |
