Introduction	We are parents to two very special boys. Our oldest, Jack, was born in December of 2005 very prematurely at 1 pound, 6 ounces and 28 weeks. He was also born with Treacher Collins Syndrome, a condition which affects his cheekbones, middle ear bones and lower jaw. He spent 4 months in the NICU and still has many issues from both his Treacher Collins and his premature birth. The ones at the top of the priority list right now are his severe sleep apnea, and his feeding issues. Our youngest son, Ben, was born in May of 2008 with Down Syndrome. He developed a leak in his lymphatic system while I was still pregnant with him and the fluid collected in the space around his lungs. He had to be intubated in the moments following his birth and was on a ventilator for the first 2 months of his life while the leaks slowly resolved and the fluid was drained away. He spent a total of 3 months in the NICU. Although our boys' syndromes are quite different, their births and first months of life were eerily similar. We're taking life one day at a time, working our way through these challenges and doing our best to help our boys become the best Jack and Ben that they can be.
