Introduction	"Bertie" is 'retired' and now aged 78 but still works quite hard despite a stroke in 2020 which laid him low for over a year. He has restored various buildings at Les Mousseaux and ran a gite business until his illness. He still tries to garden, split wood and go out walking in the forest with his dog, Oscar, and his wife Sally. He still keeps an interest in British politics, literature and science and became a French citizen in 2018. He particularly likes pastiches based on the work of other writers. He thinks Brexit was the worst mistake Britain has made since the defeat at the Battle of Hastings.
Interests	Restoring buildings, running gites, gardening, writing. surviving old age
Favorite movies	Lord of the Rings trilogy of course, Easy Rider, Vanishing Point, Last Year at Marienbad, Jean des Florettes, Manon des Sources
Favorite music	Irish folk music, the Dubliners, Sandy Denny, Fairport Convention, Verdi, some Country and Western (dare I admit to this!) Various classical now as I get older
Favorite books	Lord of the Rings, Hawksmoor, The Time Travellers' Wife, Wuthering Heights, Heart of Darkness Recently read the whole of Dickens and now George Sand.
