Why does the color blue mean raspberry-flavored?

This exact thing has often lead to great confusion on my part, and I have no answer. Also, one time, I received a severe blow to the head after drinking Raspberryade and, while concussed, vomitted a lot of blue vomit. This scared or charmed the hospital staff enormously.
