Gender Male
Occupation novelist

Introduction I'm the author of four novels published through WaterBrook Press (a division of Random House). When I walk in a room, I can't help but overhear conversations and pick up on others' moods. My heart beats for the downtrodden and the outcast. I love the fringes of society. Sometimes, I wish I could turn all this off in my head, so that I could numbly go through a day without getting burdened with others' concerns. Impossible. Which is why I write, I suppose. DARK TO MORTAL EYES ('04) and EXPIRATION DATE ('05) are the first two in a five-part suspense series. THE BEST OF EVIL ('06) and A SHRED OF TRUTH ('07) are the first in the Aramis Black Mystery Series. I've recently agreed to a contract for my JERUSALEM'S UNDEAD TRILOGY. I write novels that revolve around characters who struggle with life's questions. As a Christian who is sick of organized religion, I often wonder: If Jesus is the Answer, why are we so afraid of the questions?
Interests I'm a big-time reader. I love the outdoors. I like playing a good game of jaw-smashing basketball. I'm an avid chess player. Most of all, I love to go on dates with my wife because we truly love, understand, and accept one another.
Favorite Movies My tastes range from Se7en, The Shawshank Redemption, Match Point, Life is Beautiful, and Crash, to Liar Liar, Fight Club, Unbreakable, Serendipity, Pieces of April, Saw, and The Lord of the Rings. Netflix is my friend.
Favorite Music Most of the time, I'm listening to alternative and hard rock, everything from Audioslave, Flyleaf, King's X, Muse, Hunter, and Evanescence, to As Cities Burn, Radiohead, Coldplay, As I Lay Dying, Switchfoot, and Underoath. My all-time favorite, for lyrics and longevity, is U2.
Favorite Books I grew up reading C.S. Lewis, then Robert Ludlum and Alistair MacLean, John LeCarre, Harper Lee, and Morris West. Nowadays, I read Daniel Silva, Dean Koontz, Harlan Coben, Anne Lamott, Melanie Wells, Brandt Dodson, Kathryn Mackel, James Lee Burke, and numerous others. Anne Lamott and Donald Miller hit the bull's-eye for me on the non-fiction end.
