Introduction I'm a retired teacher who is a great believer in 'the next thing'. Which means, don't wait for someone to make you happy, and don't dwell on things that have gone wrong. Life is way too full of interesting stuff! My wife (of 40 years)and I live in the house she grew up in, three blocks north of the famous Eight-Mile Road at the northern edge of Detroit. It was built in the months following the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. We live ten minutes from downtown theatres and other activities, ten minutes from our part-time tutoring jobs at Oakland Community College, and fifteen minutes from our Lutheran church in Birmingham where we are active in its rather fine music program. We are both active in Birmingham Village Players, a community theatre group. This blog is meant to promote the North Country National Scenic Trail, a four-thousand-mile hiking trail through the midwest, which may one day become a much longer Sea-to-sea trail (http://www.northcountrytrail.org).
