Introduction Shinja Choi Scheidnes, a watercolorist who came to the U.S. as a student in 1964, brings an East-meets-West sensibility to her artwork. Her oriental-style brush work is often described as simple, elegant, and delicate, while her watercolor works tend to be bold, emotional and colorful. She has studied with many esteemed teachers in San Diego and internationally acclaimed artists such as Chang Khee Chee, Linda Doll, Tom Fong, Frank Francese, Joe Garcia, Karen Knudson, Terry Madden, Carla O’Conner, Frank Webb, Eric Wiegardt, Donna Zagotta, Tom Lynch and more, all of whom have aided in the refinement of her work. You can find her work at San Diego Watercolor Society Gallery (SDWS.org), Southwestern Artists Gallery (SWArtists.com) where she is the featured artist in an annual show, and San Diego Museum of Art Artists Guild (sdmaag.org). Shinja’s artworks were juried in The San Diego County Fair, where she holds an annual demonstration. Her works are displayed in homes across the country. Shinja is a retired nurse and educational counselor. She finds artistic inspiration in her six grandchildren, her extensive travels, classical music, and the outdoors.
