| Introduction | A published author with 25 years’ experience in martial arts, Cathy is respected as an empowering, positive teacher with a knack for helping children of all ages and abilities learn martial arts. Though now retired from teaching, she has mentored hundreds of children, many with ADHD, Asperger’s syndrome, and other challenges. She is the author of “No Pouting in the Dojo: Life Lessons through Martial Arts” and “Searching for Grasshopper: A Martial Artist’s Quest for Peace.” Cathy is a former chair of the National Women’s Martial Arts Federation (NWMAF) board of directors and an ambassador for the Association of Women Martial Arts Instructors (AWMAI) In 2012, she was honored by the Embassy of the Republic of Korea for an essay on the transformative power of Taekwondo. Cathy lives in Austin with her spouse, three dogs—two with three legs—and a hopelessly predatory cat. Contact her via TaoTexas@gmail.com.
