| Introduction | I have a master's in English and a keen interest in film studies. I have taught several film courses, including surveys that look at the history and prehistory of the format as well as a class focusing on film noir and another on science fiction. The mission of this blog is to purposely watch movies in the least acceptable format and comment on the experience. As a college student in the 1980s, I discovered so many great films through video rental. During that time, friends and I would complain about the poor visual and audio quality but concluded that the value of any film would emerge through that fog of low quality. Ironically, our rental place of choice was named Quality Video, across from a Dunkin’ Donuts in Athens, GA. |
