| Introduction | Fiyaz Mughal was awarded the OBE in the Queen's Honours List of June 2009. The OBE was for services to the voluntary and community sectors. Fiyaz's political history includes being the: Adviser to the Leader of the Liberal Democrats on Faith Issues and on Preventing Extremism and Radicalisation, Deputy President of the Liberal Democrats (2006-2007), Member of The Federal Policy Committee (2006-2008), Councillor, London Borough of Haringey (2006-2010), Councillor, Oxford City Council (2002-2004), Chair of The Ethnic Minority Liberal Democrats (2002-2006). I am the Director of a not for profit community interest company called Faith Matters (www.faith-matters.org). Faith Matters works on interfaith and conflict resolution projects to provide platforms for dialogue and discussion between Muslim and Jewish communities. I am on the Standards Committee of the Department for Work and Pensions. |
