| Introduction | We opened the Briar Rose Bed and Breakfast on April 1, 2006. It had originally been built as a tourist home in 1887, but over the years many different families lived here. Dr. Teddy Kyle and his family lived here in the mid 60s, and his daughter taught piano in the house. Then Bentley and Marilyn English lived here for many years, until the time of Bentley's death. Then Marilyn went to live in a nursing home, and the house sat empty for 1 year, until we purchased it in 2002. We worked on it for 4 years. The name Briar Rose comes from the Walt Disney movie "Sleeping Beauty", Briar Rose was Sleeping Beauty's real name. We have a garden theme throughout the Bed and Breakfast. |
