Introduction My name is George Akerlof. I was born on June 17, 1940. My alma maters include Yale University (B.A.) and M.I.T. (Ph.D.). I was also a Professor of Economics at the University of California, Berkley. In 2001 I won the Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences with Michael Spence and Joseph E.
