| Introduction | Road trip is our middle name (well, almost!) Roger and I were married in 1967 and were on the road soon after, taking our 1968 MG Midget all the way to California and back. What a great three weeks, visiting friends, national parks, national monuments and every tourist site we could squeeze in! Once our two boys were born it was the four of us on the road with frequent trips to our family place in Naples, Florida. These always included picnic stops and at least a half day at historical stops as well as fun stuff like Atlanta, Georgia's Stone Mountain. Other trips included visits to nearby states such as Michigan. One of our most memorable trips was in the late 1980s and included our teenage boys and both of our mothers! We enjoyed three weeks on the road, somewhat mirroring our first three-week road trip, all the way to California and back. We had a great time considering the close quarters (six of us in a GMC conversion van.) A lifetime experience!! Now that we're retired we hope to take more road trips, but this one, on Route 66, is a bucket list item that we have looked forward to for a long time!! Hurray!!!! |
