About me

Introduction	Salvete, omnes! Mihi nomen est "Aurora," et hoc anno iterum temptabo. I love Latin. I want to seed the environment of my classroom in every possible way with the language. Language is organic, messy, lovely, powerful. It frames thought. Very important. I don't want to miss anything, so I'm trying again. Here's what I'm trying: Tomorrow, August 29, 2011, is the first day of school for me this year. Tomorrow, I will be speaking Latin to teach Latin. The next day, I will be speaking Latin to teach Latin. Each day, I will do this because it is the right thing to do. Teaching by charts isn't fair to Latin. And I love Latin. Teaching by charts reduces Latin to its grammatical math. Teaching by charts forces the Latin into paradigmata that do not honor the mess that is language, nor the centuries that form Latin's organic feed. Teaching by charts makes of Latin a prissy, controlled thing. That's not language. And Latin is a language. Ergo, Aurora iterum temptat.
