| Introduction | is a non-profit Christian-based organization. This organization was formed in Waveland, MS, when as a result of prayer, God brought Christians together in the devastation of Hurricane Katrina. By divine appointment, a group from Pontotoc, MS while helping in the cleanup effort, encountered a Christian family in Waveland who were devastated by the storm. Even in the midst of the devastation, this family wanted their resources to be used to help others in the community. On October 8, 2005, Christians from Pontotoc and from Waveland came together to form Power of Prayer Ministries. Power of Prayer Ministries is made possible by church-based volunteer groups who sacrificially give of themselves to help in the ministry and individuals who through their financial support are willing to help make it a reality. The primary focus to date has been debris removal and to aid in cleanup and rebuilding of homes in Waveland and the surrounding communities. A base camp has been established in Waveland to house and feed volunteers who are working in the area. |
