ThingsMadeSlowly
My blogs
| Introduction | I'm a rare books librarian from Los Angeles, California who moved to Fife, Scotland in 2012, and then to Llantwit Major, Wales in 2015. I collect hobbies, most of them of the crafty variety. I'm interested in living in a historically-inspired and/or environmentally sustainable way. I'm less focused on creating exact reproductions of historical objects and more focused on incorporating old-fashioned objects and activities into my daily, modern life. In today's culture of instant gratification, where every job is quick-and-dirty and we sacrifice quality for cost, I'm interested in doing things slowly, by hand. I may not crank out as many projects as the next crafter, but every project is something whose quality I can be proud of, and that I can treasure both for its own sake and for the memories of working on it. |
