| Introduction | My family and I recently moved to Princeton, NJ from Durham, England where I am currently reading for my PhD (University of Durham). My research consists of an analysis the language of wealth and poverty in the Dead Sea Scrolls, both sectarian and non-sectarian documents, as well as other Jewish apocalyptic literature from the Second Temple period. I am comparing the language and attitudes toward wealth in these documents to the Book of Revelation in order to provide a tradition-historical reading of the Apocalypse. In doing so, I consider the degree to which these Second Temple traditions help us to understand John's perspective on wealth for the faithful Christian community. I recently completed my Th.M. at Dallas Theological Seminary. My thesis compared the Greek grammar and syntax of the parallel material in 2 Peter and Jude to determine the direction of literary dependence. |
