| Introduction | I'm a 48-year-old recently divorced mother. I spent the last 10 years as a stay-at-home mom. I know a lot of divorcees that are not as fortunate as myself to receive alimony. I am grateful to my son's father for agreeing to pay me support during this transitional period in my life. Deeply grateful. At the same time, the alimony does not erase my fears or my insecurities as I journey toward financial independence. I'm now faced with having to establish a new career in one of the worst economic periods of our nation. As I begin this blog on April 18, 2012, I truly have no idea what I am going to do as a profession but I do know that I am determined to never again be financial dependent on another person. |
