| Introduction | Prof. Slaven Letica is professor and former Head of the Department of Medical Sociology and Health Economics, Andrija Stampar School of Public Health, University of Zagreb. He is also former WHO short-term consultant working on different WHO projects in: Thailand (1988), Egypt and Pakistan (1987), China (1986) India (1986) and EU member countries (topics: health promotion; legislative measures in relation to the health development; health expenditure theory and cost-containment policy; organization and management of health care services etc.). Dr. Letica served as an independent member of the Parliament of the Republic of Croatia (2003-2008), and as an independent member of Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (2003-2008). He was also an independent presidential candidate in Croatian election 2000 and 2005. He is well known author of several best-selling books and respected and influential public intellectual. |
