Introduction Sometimes the cynicism and jaded pessimism of American culture starts to crush my soul a little bit. I turn to Bollywood because it's the voice of an enormous world that's exploring different identities, and almost everything is new. Bollywood hasn't lost faith in humanity or the ability to trust in love, family, and progress. Sometimes I need to be reminded to hope, and if it's through the whirling saris of a Bollywood musical, so much the better. Right now, most of my favorite songs and movies are in Hindi. Some people may find this strange, but I'm okay with that. Normal is boring.
