| Introduction | Dr. Lucky’s unique comedic timing and over-the-top theatricality have won her acclaim around the world. She has performed at the Miss Exotic World Competition since 2006 and at every New York Burlesque Festival since its inception. She headlined the NYBF in 2007 and the Toronto Burlesque Festival in 2009. Though a fan of hyperbole, the prefix is the only real thing about her. Dr. Lucky holds a PhD and is a faculty member at the New York School of Burlesque and New York University where she teaches Burlesque to unsuspecting drama students. She has also taught burlesque at CUNY, Exotic World, BurlyCon, Toronto Burlesque Festival, New York School of Burlesque, Movement Research, and the Palace of Wonders, among others. Dr. Lucky has been featured in Bust Magazine, NPR (twice), NY1, Washington Square News, Time.com, The WIC, the Washington Post, Washington Blade, Express (DC), Bizarre, and many others. She is the director of the Burlesque Hall of Fame Oral History Project and is working on a book-length manuscript with Dixie Evans, the proprietor of the Exotic World Museum and Competition. |
