| Introduction | One of the most influential forces in Philadelphia's rich music scene, Steve has produced for many heavy weights including Jill Scott, Estelle, Bilal and more. From buckets to beat machines, Steve Mckie has one of the most distinctive sounds to come out of Philadelphia. A native of the city, Mckie practiced on anything that would make a sound until his parents, Steve and Simone Treadwell, bought him his very own drum set. Mckie shared the stage with the likes of Musiq, Bilal, Common, Joy Denalane, Kindred The Family Soul,Joss Stone, Jazmine Sullivan, Hugh Masekela,Prince, Adam Blackstone, Robert Glasper, and Res. Under the guidance of his peers, as well as mentors such as Donald Robinson, acclaimed songwriter and producer, and Lee Patterson, a bassist, Mckie was able to make the transition from drummer to dynamic producer. |
