Introduction	My son Gabriel was diagnosed with a rare genetic disorder known as Costello Syndrome. There's approximately 450 cases of Costello Syndrome reported. There are many abnormalities and side effects with Costello syndrome, such as heart problems, abnormal trachea, cancer, developmentally delayed, feeding difficulties, hypertonic muscles,hands, legs, etc. Symptoms range from mild to severe. Yet despite all this, they have a warm loving and overall positive disposition. It is amazing. I myself was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor. I was 6 years old when doctors found it. At first it was said to be inoperable but my parents found a neurosurgeon who believed he could remove it. It was removed during an experimental surgery using stereotactic, brain mapping and laser technology. In this blog you will find information, tips, and an in dept view of the complex life of a Costello baby. And I will discuss the ups and downs of this new world. And how Gabriel and I manage on a day to day basis. It is my mission to offer insight and hope to anyone who needs it.
