Introduction | This blog began as the life and times of my tumor, a rare kind of breast cancer. Medically, it's name is phyllodes, but I call it the turnip. Always an original, I also had a mass of DCIS cancer cells in the same breast, actually inside the turnip, which is rare in the extreme. If you read from the beginning of this blog, on November 1, 2007 you will learn this is my second round with phyllodes sarcoma, it came back after 7 years. As I went through treatment, this blog was a place to process life with cancer. Now that I am beyond treatment and building a life after cancer, this blog reflects new struggles, insights and hopefully, adventures. Writing and making art have always been my best tools for dealing with the dark side of life. I live in Portland, Oregon and have received all my treatment & care at OHSU. Encouraging comments are welcome. In fact, they always make my day and help me face this life with courage and something like grace. Thanks for reading. |
