| Introduction | Born the second of five children in Washington, DC of a navy family, Patti attended Rice University and then spent the next thirty three years teaching in the public schools in Texas. Following this tenure, she became assistant principal for instruction in Lubbock, Texas until her retirement in 1995. She literally ran into her husband, Dick Blide, on the track at the Aerobic Center in Dallas. After a stellar career in swimming during her school years, she then became an avid runner, winning the Dallas White Rock Marathon and finishing nineteenth in the Boston Marathon among her many running feats. Both she and her husband each have a child from prior marriages and she now has two grand children. Patti continues her swimming and hikes and bikes with her husband. |
