Introduction Mick Williamson - Artist. Check out: www.mickwilliamson.co.uk. Mick Williamson - Chef. Way back in 1993, with Prue Leith's manual on how to be a restaurateur and 'Floyd on France' firmly tucked under my arm, Clare (my wife) and I set off for the Lot valley in SW France to run our own restaurant. My time there, as a professional chef, was truly exciting and so rewarding. There is nothing to compare with this line of work if you are looking for direct and immediate acknowledgment of your creative endeavours! This blog is, in major part, a celebration of this life-changing (and, as any successful chef will tell you, exhausting) experience.
Interests The arts (but not crafts!), Drawing and painting, Cooking, music of all kinds (apart from Country & Folk music), reading - at least 4 and up to 10 books a month (thank you Amazon!)
Favorite Movies Any Marcel Pagnol, Jacques Tati, most Mel Brooks, Blade Runner, Fantasia, Quadrophenia, Bizet-Shchedrin Carmen Suite (The BEST!!!! stars Maya Plisetskaya)
Favorite Music The Who, The Beach boys (not their early stuff), Astor Piazzolla (and most other tango music - especially from France, such as Gotan Project), Bizet's Carmen & Pearl Fishers...the list really does go on and on
Favorite Books John Steinbeck, Michael Dibdin and all who have followed and preceded him (including a raft of Italian authors), Stig and Jo and the other Scandies, Ken Follett...like my musical favourites, the list does really go on and on

Why should you never lift freshly cooked meat from the pan with a fork?
