Introduction With more than $80 million in capital improvements since the late 1990s, the Indiana State Fairgrounds has undergone dramatic changes that have made it one of the most attractive and flexible special event destinations anywhere. Located on East 38th Street on Indianapolis’ northeast side since 1892, the Fairgrounds is one of the most well known landmarks in the state, annually attracting roughly 2 million visitors to more than 300 events. The Fairgrounds’ showcase event, the Indiana State Fair, is the sixth oldest state fair in the country dating back to 1852, but a variety of other annual events attract thousands of visitors, including the Indianapolis Home Show; Indianapolis Boat, Sport & Travel Show; Indiana Flower & Patio Show; Hoosier Horse Fair and Expo; Christmas Gift & Hobby Show; and Hoosier Beef Congress. The fairgrounds’ Pepsi Coliseum is home to the Indiana Ice of the United States Hockey League and provides a perfect venue for public skating, youth hockey leagues, concerts, seminars and other activities.
