| Introduction | i attribute a lot of who i am to where i grew up and the family i grew up with. i am a third generation san diegan from a family that loves the ocean, dogs, and traveling in latin america. i went to the university of san diego, where i graduated in 2007 in spanish and international relations and participated in three study abroad programs. because of my love for water, i swam, played water polo, lifeguarded and taught swim lessons until i graduated from usd. after graduation, i immediately left my hometown to spend the summer volunteer teaching english with the UNDP in santiago, chile. after chile, i moved to hermosa, costa rica with my best friend, ryan, and my two dogs to teach homeschool, surf and travel. two and a half years later, i'm still in costa rica--i met my boyfriend, mike, while interning with outward bound, we added a third dog to the pack, and i'm about to finish my master's program in media, peace and conflict studies at upeace in ciudad colon. to top it all off, i'm packing up the crew and we're driving back to san diego 4/24-5/25! i will be interning at usd's trans-border institute when i get home and hopefully, someday, i'll be a professor :) |
