| Introduction | Start! is the American Heart Association’s exciting national movement that calls on all Americans and their employers to create a culture of health and physical activity to live longer, heart-healthy lives. Start! Greater Washington is sponsored by Aetna. Start! Greater Washington includes: * National Start! Walking Day – April 8, a national call-to-action day encouraging all Americans to walk. * Start! Walking Program – a free, turn-key program to help you set up a workplace walking program or challenge. The program includes an online tracking tool for miles walked. * Start! Fit-Friendly Companies – national recognition from the American Heart Association for companies promoting a culture of wellness. * Start! Greater Washington Heart Walk – November 14, 2009 on The National Mall. Event includes a one or 2.9-mile walk and a pre-event expo, entertainment, and heart-healthy snacks. |
