| Introduction | I've been staging homes, gardening, cooking and entertaining for as long as I can remember. My grandmother, who lived in the "House up on the Corner" as you go around "Broaddus Avenue" in a little town called Bowling Green, Virginia, hooked me early. She taught me the advantages and the joys of an orderly but warm and inviting home. I also learned the satisfaction of preparing a wonderful meal for family and friends, how to entertain ladies for a Bridge Club or gentleman for a Game Dinner and the best recipes for Cocktail parties.Together we rearranged furniture, set pretty tables, grew and made flower arrangements and never passed up an interesting throw pillow on sale. Sharing some of these ideas and lost skills on facebook, lead a couple of years ago to a friend asking me to stage her home which had been on the market for over 3 months. I did some hasty rearranging, spent a couple of hundred dollars and the house sold the following week. Soon another friend asked me to stage for her husband's birthday party and the rest is history. |

| Interests | I have been a freelance journalist by trade for over 30 years. In addition to writing the first Guide To Caroline County, I am the author of A Walking Tour of Historic Bowling Green and a collection of ghost stories about the county which combine local lore with history. (Coming soon to this site by popular demand) Some of my published works can be found in Rural Living Magazine, The Free Lance Star, The Caroline Progress, Caroline Edition Magazine, The Real Estate and Home Builders Directory, The Caroline Planter and The Harvest Festival Guide. I also enjoy providing the editorial copy for numerous one time, specialty publications and historic house tours. My subjects have covered Economic Development and Tourism, Architecture, Historic Preservation and History with a special interest in the British Isles and Colonial America. Some of my titles include stories about the outdoors, (Hunting, A Caroline Tradition Worth Preserving) Preservation (What Bowling Green Has Lost) Historical Fiction (The Black Knight), Living History and Foodways (Recipes for Reenactors and The 1860’s and What Women Wore) I like to say I live with four hundreds pounds of Chocolate Labrador Retriever. We do in fact have four Labs whose weight equals up to 400 pounds! I live with my husband Jeff in historic Bowling Green, Virginia where he represents our county seat on the Board of Supervisors. |
