My blogs
| Introduction | I feature commentary on funny media texts describing how they can be used to promote media literacy by teachers and learners. I am particularly interested in humor that calls attention to the constructedness of media messages, authors and audiences, political economy of media ownership, and representations and reality. Since representations in news media construct much of the public's perception of the world, posts on news satires like the Daily Show, the Colbert Report, and the Onion will be regularly featured. I offer at least one post per week with some focus on how the funny stuff can be used for media literacy education. I have been a media literacy educator in public high school and university settings for 10 years, and I am close to completing my PhD in Mass Media & Communication with a specialization in media literacy education. |
