About me

Location Jemez Springs, New Mexico and San Juan Bautista, California, United States
Introduction I am inspired. The beauty found in nature often overwhelms me, and I am driven by an irresistible urge to capture that beauty and share it with others. As an observer and mostly self taught artist, I express my creative spirit by experimenting with various mediums. Seeking out different subjects, landscapes, still life, flowers, portraits, and animals, allows me to explore different ways of painting. My artwork reflects a quiet sensibility, a love of beauty, and appreciation for the natural landscape around me. I am most inspired by, and drawn to quiet and calming scenes. Many of my paintings are of places I’ve experienced with all of my senses, composed with intent to recreate the wonderful impressions left upon me. They are my tribute to the beauty of nature and its defining link to the New Mexico and California landscapes. I am fortunate to be able to live and travel to both these places. Through my art, I hope that the beauty of the surrounding landscape reflects a sense of timeless tranquility and sheltering peace and invites one to transcend daily pressures and experience harmony and balance in a place where a slower pace invites relaxation and reflection.
Interests gardening, quilting, reading, playing piano, I have taught children's art, piano, Spanish, and am a retired elementary school teacher., I'm looking forward to devoting more time to painting., I started painting gourds, bought a woodburner and am trying that too., I am pleased with the results, even sold the first gourds I painted., Now I am creating a gourd mask decorated with feathers and jewels, looks rather primitive.
