Sponges and tongues are frequently misspelled. Is it because both are thirsty?
I think it's because English developed a rule book for how things are to be spelled abd pronounced, and then it burned the rule book. Sponges and tongues are not pronounced the same, but if they were, people would spell them correctly, I think.
