| Introduction | In September 2013, I had a baby and decided not to return to my high-stress, travel-heavy job as a shoe designer for a luxury footwear brand. My husband found a job in the Research Triangle area (which includes Raleigh, Durham and Chapel Hill as well as suburbs like Cary, Apex, and Holly Springs) of North Carolina, and we decided to leave New York City and head someplace quieter, leafier, and more spacious.
