| Introduction | Maize is a Flower-Power nickname from my high school years. I use it not only to be comfortably anonymous myself, but to put readers and commenters at ease. Respiratory care is a second career for me -- I used to be a sort-of influential executive in a too-big-to-fail bank. (I quit several years before the current economic crisis. I'm relieved to say I got out ahead of the "tsunami".) I don't want people from my previous career to feel embarrassed to talk to me about career change or such like. Also, deep down, maybe I don't want them to recognize me and make fun of me. Don't worry about the pseudonym -- if I commit a crime, Google makes it easy to actually track me down. Here are some of reasons I'm starting this blog: - To clear my head after work or school (obviously). - To share with others about Respiratory Care as a career. - To share with others about being a student in Respiratory Care and the education that is available. - To be frank and supportive with people who are going back to school in midlife to begin a second career.
