| Introduction | I grew up riding and showing horses in Wisconsin and Michigan, and after graduating university I worked as a riding instructor in England for Budleigh Salterton Riding School, while preparing for British Horse Society exams. Later, while teaching English in Japan, I joined staff as an instructor/trainer at FH Riding Club in Tochigi, a Japanese Dressage club. I'm currently instructing students of all ages at Francis Creek Fjords in Wisconsin. I specialize in teaching body/balance awareness, helping riders learn how balance and body language affects the horse. I also try to teach all riders to be "trainers", seeing each horse as an individual and deciding how best to assist the horse's movement and natural athleticism. No matter what the discipline, I teach using basic principles of dressage, balance, suppleness and impulsion. Riders and horses are individuals, and lesson/training programs are individually tailored. |
