Introduction | Ask anyone who knows me, I’ve always had a lot to say. Just mention politics, education, race, religion, poverty, fat, cholesterol, statins, “healthy” food, or global warming and I’ll spend a few hours on my soapbox. Now I have a more constructive outlet. Now when someone brings up a hot-button issue, I can just reference my blog. And hopefully I’ll sometimes strike a chord or start a conversation. Who am I? Before I became the Development Manager for a youth development non profit, I was a stay-at-home mom to the world’s sweetest 5 year-old boy (okay, I’m a little biased). Prior to that I was a 2nd grade teacher in the Boston Public Schools. I hold a Bachelor’s in Urban Studies and a Master’s in Education. Another random part of my education was a 2-year stint as a sort of apprentice line cook at a Boston restaurant. Because I’m likely to post on race, religion and the “War on Terrorism,” I feel it is relevant to disclose that I am biracial– my father is black and my mother is white. My son's father is a Turkish Muslim and I have spent a fair amount of time in Turkiye (Turkey). OK. Welcome to my world. I hope you visit often and tell me what you think! |

You get to ride the big roller coaster three times in a row. What will keep your dad from taking a bite out of your candy apple?
Umm, his dental work?
