About me

Introduction I'm Anita. I've been called 'sick' for some of the things I've said here and ever since I've been trying to live up to that label. I was once voted 'Blogger of the Year' by my husband and mum and dad. The Guardian and The New York Times are just 2 of the famous publications I have never written for. I was invited to write for Granta last year but turned it down as I was knocked out by my period at the time. Being the observations of a child-free, forty-something animal lover, this blog is called Luscious Wound for a couple of reasons: 1) It's influenced by the title and content of Peter Redgrove and Penelope Shuttle's legendary book The Wise Wound. 2) Luscious Wound is an indirect reference to the title of Mary Webb's novel, Precious Bane. You'll read about periods, arts and culture, animal rights and my cats, Vincenzo Nibbly and Nina. I also post articles that I have pitched to editors and which have been rejected. "Like a deep red river of wisdom in a desert of dismissiveness and sarcasm about menstruation" (Jules Cazedessus, Venus Matters). "You are such a free thinker!" (the North Devon Journal). Yeah, but did I say I write about periods? Contact me: agnetha@hotmail.co.uk
