| Introduction | Cheryl Dunye a native of Liberia received her BA from Temple University and her MFA from Rutgers University’s Mason Gross School of the Arts. Dunye has received numerous national and international honors for her work in the media arts. With 5 feature films under her belt—MOMMY IS COMING, THE OWLS, Miramax’s MY BABY’S DADDY, HBO Films STRANGER INSIDE, and her debut feature film, THE WATERMELON WOMAN—Dunye continues make cinema that matters. Based in Oakland, Dunye is an Associate Professor of Film, Diversity Studies and the Graduate Writing Programs at California College of the Arts and is at work on a new project BLACK IS BLUE about a black trans man who struggles with his identity. |
