About me

Introduction	Hi! I'm Diego, and I am an honored member of the Global Scholars Cohort. Ever since I can remember, I have exhibited a love for learning languages and immersing myself in their respective communities. The foreign languages I speak currently are Spanish and French, and both these languages have taken me far in my experience with the Global Initiatives Project. From experiencing firsthand Cuban culture preserved from the passing of time, to teaching students in Northern France eager to learn English, there is no environment too foreign and too outside of my comfort zone that I wouldn't see as an opportunity to grow as a GIP Scholar. Over the summer, I will be learning another Romance language (possibly Italian!) and will be focusing on the quality of life for Latino/Hispanic communities in Los Angeles. I am very passionate about the representation, or lack thereof, for minorities and I wish to learn more about the struggles and obstacles that face communities in a city known for its extensive diversity. I am very excited to address these issues and to use my privilege as a well-informed, private school student to improve the infrastructure of a community very dear to me.
