Why does the taste of pennies remind you of losing a tooth?
I don't taste pennies too often, but let's go with the scientific. When you lose a tooth, your mouth usually bleeds. Blood contains a lot of iron, so it tastes metallic. Pennies are also made of metal - not pure copper anymore, so maybe there's some iron in there. Regardless, both give you a metallic taste in your mouth. To me, sucking on zinc lozenges has the same effect.
